Kohima: Nagaland’s Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change hosted a one-day refresher course for its drivers on August 29. The event took place at the State Environment and Forestry Training Institute in Dimapur. It marks the first time the department has held a course specifically for its driving staff.
Hukato Chishi, Member Secretary of the Nagaland Pollution Control Board, opened the event. Lhinghoikim Touthang, Conservator of Forests, oversaw the closing ceremony. Dimapur police officials Peter Shuya and William Kath served as lead instructors. They drilled the participants on traffic regulations and emergency roadside repairs.
The department pushed for better discipline behind the wheel. The curriculum focused on professional conduct and the responsibilities of government employees. Officials hope the training improves overall work ethics. The Director of SEFTI credited the department for supporting the initiative, noting that the program was, "among the forestry-related educational training programmes conducted by SEFTI, Dimapur."
