Agartala: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury convened a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat on October 13. He gathered senior officials from 27 government departments to audit the status of vehicle driver vacancies. The session operated under the framework of the Tripura Government Vehicles Drivers Services Rules, 1979. It was a rigorous assessment.

Chowdhury scrutinized department-specific vacancy numbers, updated reservation rosters, and general service cadre conditions. He demanded better coordination between departments to ensure personnel data remains precise. The minister issued specific directions to officials to keep vacancy assessments strictly aligned with established state rules.

The government claims this move will sharpen administrative planning. It aims to bolster the daily operations of departments by clearing up confusion surrounding open roles. Chowdhury insisted on a transparent process. "The state government is committed to taking appropriate measures in the public interest," he stated during the review.

Officials did not release a total count of vacant positions. There is no official timeline for new recruitment yet. The meeting served primarily to establish a baseline for future personnel management.
