Agartala: Tripura officials launched a district-level road safety campaign Tuesday to slash traffic accidents. The Transport Department and West Tripura district administration hosted the event at the State Guest House, Sonar Tori. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury opened the session by lighting a ceremonial lamp.
Chowdhury insists laws cannot stop crashes alone. People need empathy. He demands that drivers obey speed limits, wear helmets, buckle seatbelts, and stay sober behind the wheel. Everyone must prioritize the lives of pedestrians.
Chowdhury said, "Let us all be more responsible and sensitive in using the roads. Alongside our own safety, we must value the lives of others. Conscious drivers and responsible pedestrians together will build safe roads and a safer tomorrow."
Police, transport staff, and government officials joined the meeting to discuss curbing reckless driving. They agreed that safety requires a culture shift across the state. The drive operates under the core motto: Safe Roads, Safe Lives.
