Agartala: Tripura saw road accidents drop nearly 9 percent in 2025. DGP Anurag confirmed the decline on Tuesday, July 14. The state recorded 527 accidents this year. That is 51 fewer than the 578 crashes seen in 2024.

Officials credit the drop to coordinated safety efforts. The Traffic Department uses the Four Es approach. This strategy combines education, enforcement, emergency care, and engineering. "The main aim of the Traffic Department is to reduce the number of road accidents. Through the Four Es approach, we are working together and have achieved success in bringing down accident numbers," the DGP stated.

Authorities launched a new vision initiative to further boost safety. The Traffic Police partnered with the community policing program Prayas. They hosted a free eye check-up camp for commercial drivers on Tuesday. Roughly 1,000 drivers attended the event.

Many drivers skip eye exams due to tight schedules or money. This program provides free spectacles and corrective lenses to those in need. DGP Anurag believes clear vision for commercial drivers is vital for preventing future wrecks.
