Agartala: Sepahijala district education officials started surprise school inspections on August 25. The sweep covers all seven blocks within the district. District Education Officer Kanika Debbarma leads the push to fix academic standards. Teams check student literacy from nursery through Class II. They monitor teacher attendance, classroom cleanliness, and the quality of daily mid-day meals.
Fourteen teams now conduct daily site visits. One group includes Deputy Director Md. Selim, OSDs Antony Debbarma and Rakesh Debbarma, plus seven State IS officials and three TTAADC IS officials. Debbarma leads a separate unit herself. Investigators hit several schools in the Jampuijala block on Friday.
These inspections found problems in 15 schools. Officials promptly issued show-cause notices to 15 headmasters. Debbarma said the inspections are "primarily focused on the academic performance of students and identifying important issues affecting the functioning of schools."
Pressure is mounting. Staff members are worried. The DEO warned that any headmaster or assistant headmaster who blocks the inspection process faces disciplinary action. These surprise visits will continue across the district in the coming days.
