Tura Youth Congress Seeks Probe Into Doctored Video of MP Saleng A Sangma

Shillong: The District Youth Congress in Tura went to the West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police on Monday. They want a formal investigation into a video of MP Saleng A Sangma. The clip allegedly appeared on a Facebook account titled Shirley Irene. It is a fake.

DYC president Rikrak M. Sangma claims the video is doctored. It distorts the MP's original words to ruin his reputation. The group demands police track down the person behind the account. They also flagged the profile for using another person's photo to hide their identity.

Investigators must compare the original footage against the altered clip. They need to secure all digital evidence, including URLs, screenshots, and account logs. Rikrak says the goal is to stop the misuse of social media platforms. He stands ready to hand over the original footage and supporting links to the authorities.

The organization is pushing for a full FIR if the police find a crime. Rikrak stated, "The complaint had been submitted to protect the reputation of a public representative and prevent the potential misuse of social media." Police must now decide if the manipulation constitutes a cognizable offense.
