Agartala: Qualified candidates for the Selection Test for Graduate Teachers are demanding that the Teachers' Recruitment Board, Tripura finish document verification. The group submitted a memorandum to the chairman on Wednesday. They want the final merit list published immediately. Four months have passed since the exam results hit the books. No progress occurred during that window.

Aspirants say the Post Graduate Teacher recruitment wrapped up months ago, with those teachers already working in schools. They also pointed out that the government held two Teacher Eligibility Tests during this stagnant period. The board has not hired new graduate teachers for years. Now, frustration is mounting.

TRBT Chairman Pratyush Ranjan Deb cited technical hurdles for the delay. He noted that the board managed seven selection tests over the last 26 months. Staff were tied up releasing recommendation lists for UGT and GT candidates from the TET I and TET II exams. "The aspirants are concerned about the merit list and recruitment process. We have informed them that due to some technical problems we have been unable to proceed with the remaining portion of the recruitment process," Deb stated.

Court orders added extra work to the board's plate. Judges directed the TRBT to physically verify service records for candidates who previously faced rejection. Investigators checked school sites for teachers claiming prior training during service. Many of those schools do not exist. Despite the workload, Deb promised to clear the backlog before Durga Puja. The board aims to clear the path for a new TET exam in December.
