Agartala: Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Rampada Jamatia opened a new Eklavya Model Residential School in the Gomati district on Thursday. The Killa facility provides 480 seats for tribal students. Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma attended the event as the chief guest.

Jamatia started the ceremony by removing the cover from the school plaque and lighting a ceremonial lamp. A crowd of local residents, teachers, students, parents, and officials watched the launch. The government wants to help children from poor tribal families finish their schooling.

Minister Debbarma pointed to education initiatives pushed by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He believes the new school will change lives. Debbarma noted, "Education is the foundation of progress. Without it, no community can achieve holistic development. Tribal boys and girls, once educated, will play a vital role in shaping the future of society and the state."

Speaker Jamatia told the crowd that residential schools help students in remote areas reach their goals. The institution aims to remove financial barriers to higher learning. The event wrapped up with ten guests planting trees to mark the occasion.
