Agartala: The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs approved the opening of six new Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Tripura. Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma confirmed the news after meeting with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram in New Delhi. This development aims to fix educational gaps in remote areas. The network provides residential schooling and modern teaching methods for indigenous students.
Debbarma praised the federal backing for these institutions. He highlighted the impact on the state infrastructure during the visit. "The approval extended by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for ensuring the smooth functioning of these institutions marks a significant step in strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality education through the EMRS network in the State," Debbarma posted online.
The schools combine academics with skill development and cultural preservation. They act as a cornerstone for local tribal welfare programs. Debbarma traveled to the capital with Tapash Ranjan Bhowmik, executive engineer of the Tripura Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, and Madan Gopal Modak, deputy executive officer of the Tripura Housing Board. Their team work ensures the schools start operations effectively. These institutions create fresh opportunities for youth across the state.
