Agartala: Tripura Traffic Police seized more than 100 autorickshaws and e-rickshaws on August 21. They broke city entry rules. Superintendent Kanta Jangir confirmed the vehicles violated a 15-kilometer operational radius enforced within the Agartala Municipal Corporation area.

Out-of-town drivers must stop at designated hubs. These include the Radhanagar, Chandrapur Inter-State, and Nagerjala bus stands. Traffic officials blamed these illegal entries for heavy congestion and daily management headaches. The department previously held union meetings and ran awareness programs to stop the practice.

Jangir stated: "Despite these measures, some vehicles allegedly continued to violate the notified rules." Drivers ignoring warnings faced a special enforcement drive on Friday. While police maintain a firm stance, they carve out exceptions for specific emergency cases. Students and patients still get a pass during travel. Authorities vowed to keep hitting the streets with similar drives to ensure city traffic moves smoothly.
