Agartala: Tipra Motha MLA Biswajit Kalai wants immediate answers from Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder. He is demanding a probe into the recent eviction of vegetable vendors near Don Bosco School in Nandan Nagar. The operation hit low-income families hard. It gutted their livelihoods.

Kalai claims police were not alone during the enforcement drive. He alleges that members of the public from another community joined the crackdown. This involvement of unauthorized persons creates deep insecurity. It risks sparking communal tension in the city.

The MLA insists that municipal law must be enforced by authorized personnel only. He wants the mayor to verify the identities of the displaced sellers. "Any involvement of unauthorised persons in an official enforcement process was unfortunate and could create insecurity among affected vendors and contribute to unnecessary communal tension," Kalai wrote in his letter.

He is pushing for a humanitarian fix. The AMC needs to provide alternative spots or a clear rehabilitation plan before moving against these people again. Kalai suggested a sit-down meeting between AMC officials, vendor representatives, and local leaders. He wants a fair deal that restores public trust. The MLA urged the mayor to act personally to settle the matter and keep the peace in Nandan Nagar.
