Agartala: The Indian Army launched its Agniveer Recruitment Rally 2026 on Tuesday at the Dasarath Deb State Sports Complex in Badharghat, Agartala. The five-day event runs through October 17. The Spear Corps and the Army Recruiting Office in Silchar organized the drive. Youth participation spiked, with registrations jumping 92 percent over previous cycles.

Proceedings kicked off early October 13. The first batch of 337 candidates hit the track for the mandatory 1.6-kilometre run. Those who finish the run move to physical fitness tests, physical measurement tests, document checks, and preliminary medical exams. Military officials commended the discipline displayed by the opening batch and extended their best wishes to candidates participating in the remaining stages of the recruitment rally.

Operations follow a split schedule. The first phase runs October 13 to 15, covering runs, measurements, and screening for daily batches. Crews set aside October 16 and 17 for specialized medical evaluations and administrative work. Agartala civil administration teamed up with Army personnel to set up holding areas, emergency medical stations, water points, and registration counters for the influx of applicants from across Tripura.
