Agartala: Tripura SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das kicked off the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan at the Mukut Auditorium in Santirbazar on Thursday. He also watered saplings to launch the district-level Swachhata Hi Seva programme. Public work matters. "Our goal is to build a clean and hygienic India, and public service is a form of service to the nation," Das told the crowd.
Das traced the mission back to October 2, 2014, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Swachh Bharat Mission to honor Mahatma Gandhi. He claimed the government has built toilets for 12 crore households, a move that specifically helps women. He also touted new progress in solid waste management.
The minister wants locals to pitch in. He asked citizens to balance their regular jobs with active work in local cleanliness drives. Everyone holds a piece of this responsibility. Officials in attendance included South Tripura Zilla Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, MLAs Pramod Reang, Mailayu Mog, and Swapna Majumdar. Santirbazar Municipal Council chairperson Swapna Baidya, South Tripura District Magistrate Md Sajjad P, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dipika Gautam, and social worker Dwipayan Chowdhury also joined the event.
The day involved manual labor and charity. Das worked alongside sanitation staff during the campaign and handed out gifts to the Santirbazar Municipal Council workers. He later visited the Santirbazar District Hospital to hand out fruit and sweets to the patients.
