Agartala: Anirban Bhowmik, a social media influencer from Udaipur, Tripura, wants to change how audiences see devotional music. His latest project, Shyam Sundari Shyama, dropped just ahead of Diwali. It steers away from typical happy endings to focus on real human struggle. Bhowmik pulls inspiration from filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. He specifically cites the raw approach seen in Rockstar and the track Kun Faya Kun.
The project follows a year of planning and a larger production budget than his previous work. It marks a step up from a successful Shyama Sangeet release last year. Bhowmik directed the piece and wrote the script himself. He believes independent creators do not need big studios to make an impact. "You don't necessarily need a massive production house to create something impactful. You need a strong vision, the right team and the dedication to execute that vision," Bhowmik said.
The production features a massive cast and crew. Astro Pritam Nath and Gayatri Kashyap produced the work. Kishan Das provided the vocals and composition, while Ranajit Chakraborty wrote the lyrics. Tapas Dhar handled music production, and Adarsh Ray managed the visuals. The cast includes Jeniva Das, Subhabrata Chakraborty, Anushka Roy, and several others. Voice-overs feature Shriddhi Bandopadhyay and Sharbani Chakraborty.
Bhowmik knows his narrative might leave some viewers cold. He thinks that is exactly the point of the art. "Not everything happens the way we imagine or wish it would. Sometimes things fall apart, sometimes we lose, and sometimes we have to accept situations we cannot change," he explained. He argues that faith serves as a bridge through these hard times. Life goes on. He hopes his success proves that regional artists can compete on a global stage if they keep refining their craft.
