Foreign Cash Found in Tripura Sundari Temple Donation Boxes

Agartala: Seventeen donation boxes at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur were cracked open Friday. The boxes had been sealed for one month and twenty days. An 18-member team from the Gomati District Magistrate office oversaw the count. Security stayed tight all day. The work started at dawn and wrapped up by evening.

Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chattopadhyay confirmed the take included foreign coins and notes. Cash arrived from the United States, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bangladesh were also represented in the haul. Temple officials said the international currency proves the site draws tourists from across the globe.

Devotees now move beyond physical cash. Bank QR codes have changed the donation flow. Officials noted, "The offerings are a reflection of the faith and devotion of devotees, both local and international." This digital shift adds a new layer to the collection process. Authorities maintained strict order throughout the day to ensure every cent was tracked. The site remains a top spiritual and cultural hub in Tripura.
