Tripura BJP Yuva Morcha launches state idol collection drive

Agartala: The Tripura BJP Yuva Morcha kicked off a statewide campaign to clear idols discarded on roadsides and public property. The group wants these figures removed and properly immersed. This operation is part of the party's month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan effort.

Arindam Deb, the state president for the Yuva Morcha, dubbed the project Amar Murti, Amar Abhiman. That translates to My Idol, My Pride. He says the work mixes cleanliness goals with the duty to respect religious traditions.

Deb explained the motive behind the push. "Idols worshipped during various religious festivals are often left beside roads and in other public places after the puja. We have taken the initiative to collect such idols and make arrangements for their proper immersion," he said.

Workers are fanning out across Tripura to gather the statues. This helps residents in regions where ponds, rivers, or canals are hard to reach for traditional rites. The party intends to build awareness and rally the youth to serve the Sanatan community.

This is not a new task for the organization. Deb claims he has personally managed idol collections and immersions since November 2023. Periodic drives have happened since then. The Yuva Morcha plans to keep the momentum going as a permanent fixture of their community service outreach.
