Agartala: NCERT Director Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani opened a five-day training workshop for teachers on Tuesday at the Hapania International Fair Ground in Agartala. The event aims to sharpen professional skills and boost the quality of school instruction. Officials organized the session under the National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement, or NISHTHA, program.
Saklani started the workshop by pressing a button. He emphasized that the National Education Policy provides a fresh outlook for the country. Teachers hold the key to its success. He told the room that students in remote areas grow by engaging with nature. Schools should focus on feeding this natural creativity.
Dr. Milind Ramteke, Secretary of the School Education Department, noted that Tripura currently holds the third-highest literacy rate in India. He hopes this training will push those standards higher. The curriculum focuses heavily on primary education.
SCERT Director L. Darlong opened the event with a welcome speech. Prof. Ranjana Arora from the NCERT Department of Curriculum Studies and Development explained the finer points of NISHTHA, while Prof. Sarad Sinha attended as the guest of honor. Attendees also watched a documentary on the program. Saklani signaled that the session relies on input from the floor. He noted, "The feedback and suggestions received from participants through this workshop will help improve the programme in the future."
