BJP to Back Tipra Motha Against Opposition in Tripura

Agartala: Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath announced the BJP will back Tipra Motha candidates in constituencies where the party faces off against the CPI(M) or Congress. This move aims to keep what Nath calls anti-state ideologies out of power. The parties reached a reciprocal deal. Tipra Motha instructed its base to avoid voting for the CPI(M) or Congress in districts where the BJP competes directly against them.

Nath claims the opposition lacks the reach to win. He points to the recent Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections as proof. Opposition parties failed to win a single seat there. He argues these groups rely on aging voters and hold little sway with the youth.

The Minister insists that success rests on grassroots strength rather than administrative influence. Addressing past struggles against the CPI(M), Nath noted, "if people are with you, no administration can stop you." He acknowledged that voters remain the ultimate judge of the BJP-led NDA government. If the coalition fails to deliver, he admitted, the public will eventually turn them out.
