Agartala: Sudhangshu Das, the Tripura minister for SC Welfare, Animal Resource Development, and Fisheries, praised the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad after their latest win in the Delhi University Students Union elections. The ABVP clinched three out of the four central seats. Yash Dabas secured the presidency, Riya Chhawdi won as secretary, and Lakshya Raj Singh took the joint secretary post. Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen claimed the vice-president role.
Das broadcast his thoughts on Facebook Live this Saturday. He framed the results as a clear rejection of what he termed the “politics of lies” pushed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He argued that the student body now aligns with the Viksit Bharat vision promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Because Delhi University hosts a diverse crowd, the minister views these results as having national weight.
The NSUI, the student wing of the Congress, failed to win any central positions. Das dismissed the effectiveness of Gandhi's Chhatron Ki Goonj programme in Indore, labeling opposition outreach efforts as false propaganda aimed at Generation Z. He also attacked Communist and opposition groups, using terms like Urban Naxals and intellectual Naxals. He claimed these factions work to erode India's cultural traditions and national identity.
Citing Swami Vivekananda, the minister encouraged the youth to reject upcoming conspiracies and stay focused on building the nation. He congratulated the winners and expects them to prioritize student welfare in their new roles.
