Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on September 19. The RSS-backed student group captured three out of four central panel posts during the Delhi University Students Union elections. Results arrived on Saturday.
The ABVP reclaimed the positions of president, secretary, and joint secretary. They held these same three seats in the 2025 cycle. The National Students Union of India, which is linked to the Congress party, failed to win any central panel spots this year. They held the vice-president role previously.
Sarma celebrated the win on X. He addressed the group's leadership and supporters directly. "A decisive mandate for nationalist student politics in Delhi University! Chhatro Ki Goonj is firmly with @ABVPVoice," he wrote.
He sees this outcome as a shift in campus values. The Chief Minister claimed the victory shows students want to lead with nation-first priorities. He stated, "This is not just a student council win. It's proof that when young India is given a platform rooted in nation-first values, it chooses to lead rather than follow."
