Agartala: Tripura CPI(M) will host statewide rallies on July 20. The protests back the Cockroadh Janata Party in its upcoming Parliament March. Opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury broke the news during a press conference on July 18. The events aim to protest against the misgovernance of the Narendra Modi government.
Timing for the rallies aligns with the Parliament March. This march marks the start of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The announcement follows the forced removal of activist Sonam Wangchuk by Delhi Police on Saturday. Wangchuk sat on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for 21 days. He demanded that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign over the NEET-UG paper leak.
Police moved the activist to a hospital citing medical advice and Delhi High Court orders. Opposition groups slammed the move as a tactic to silence dissent. Chaudhury didn't hold back. "We strongly condemn and express concern over the way Sonam Wangchuk was forcefully picked up by police personnel and got admitted to a Delhi hospital. It is a serious matter," he stated.
Chaudhury urged all political parties and citizens to unify against the central government. These rallies intend to build public support for the march. The party wants to amplify the people's voice against current federal leadership.
