Agartala: Tripura prepares for village committee elections. The CPI-M State Secretary announced the party will join forces with the CPI-ML under the Left Front banner. They want to tighten their grip on the grassroots vote. No deal with Congress exists.
The State Secretary shut down any talk of a Congress partnership. He pointed to the lack of a real Congress base in the hills as the main reason. The party leader said, "No discussions have taken place regarding seat-sharing or alliance with the party."
Left Front candidates will push hard on hill area development. Their platform centers on tribal rights and local problems. They aim to present a united front against the ruling BJP and regional rivals. The strategy hinges on internal unity to win the upcoming village polls.
