Agartala: President Droupadi Murmu handed the National Teachers' Award to Ranjan Debnath in New Delhi on Teachers' Day. Debnath serves as headmaster of the PM SHRI Class XII Girls' School in Sabroom, South Tripura. He earned the honor for his work in education. The school community in Sabroom celebrated the news.
The school dates back to 1960. It now features smart classrooms, science labs, and an Atal Tinkering Lab. Students also use a virtual reality lab, robotics facilities, and vocational training gear. The campus provides self-defence training, sports coaching, and a library. These resources helped drive the school's rise in academics and technology.
Academic results stayed strong. The institution hit a 100 per cent pass rate in secondary and higher secondary exams for both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 sessions. For 2024-25, the secondary pass rate remained 100 per cent, while the higher secondary rate landed at 92 per cent. Debnath manages nearly 700 girls with a small staff.
He pushes students to join cultural programs and sports beyond standard lessons. Local residents celebrated the headmaster's success. They noted that "committed teachers and proper guidance could play a role in building a brighter future for students in the state's public education system."
