Itanagar: Security forces captured five Myanmar nationals Saturday in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The group, consisting of three men and two women, was turned over to local police for processing. Authorities identified the detainees as 35-year-old Nokwang Taikhe, 21-year-old Wenchak Taikhe, 16-year-old Chaksang Taikhe, 12-year-old Wennaw Tuchi, and 15-year-old Dungeon Kachik.
An official confirmed the detention. "Five Myanmar nationals were apprehended in Changlang on Saturday. We have started our interrogation," the official said. The district shares a lengthy, porous border with Myanmar, making it a target for illicit activity.
Changlang has become a hot spot for drug runners. Contraband moves through the region regularly. Recently, the 21 Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police teamed up to catch two other Myanmar nationals near Nongkey Village. That operation near the Nampong police station netted 130.09 grams of suspected brown sugar, an illicit haul with an estimated international market value of Rs 26 lakh.
