Itanagar: Trade is flowing again at the Pangsau Pass. The historic India-Myanmar Border Haat in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district reopened its gates following a six-year shutdown. This restart brings a long-awaited economic spark to Nampong.
Arunachal Pradesh Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam presided over the formal inauguration on July 30. He was joined by a slate of officials including Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai, MLA Laisam Simai, Secretary Bullo Mamung, Director Toko Togur, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Lekhandu Thungon. The market actually began receiving visitors on July 20, 2026.
The venue will host vendors and shoppers on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of every month. Local leaders believe this schedule will drive growth. The initiative aims to push more than just money across the line. Officials stated the reopening will help "promote border tourism and encourage greater cultural interaction between communities on both sides of the international boundary."
State planners expect the Haat to boost regional connectivity and provide a steady platform for exchanging local goods. By bridging the gap between border residents, the government hopes to strengthen the long-standing ties between the two nations.
