Agartala: Hungry kids headed home on Tuesday after a thief swiped the cooking gas cylinder from the Chumiar Dung Anganwadi Centre. The facility sits in the Khamarbari area under Aralia Gram Panchayat in the Charilam RD Block of Sepahijala district.

Residents on a morning walk spotted the open door and raised the alarm. Staff checked the building and found the food stocks untouched. Only the LPG cylinder was gone. The theft occurred overnight. With no gas to fire up the stove, workers could not prepare meals for the children. They sent everyone home hungry.

Neighbors fumed over the incident. They pointed out that this is not the first time thieves have hit this site. Residents questioned the security of the building, especially since it sits right on a busy roadside. The head worker remains on long-term medical leave. Local sources said that none of the previous theft cases have been resolved.

Bishalgarh police arrived at the scene to scout for evidence. Officers are now running an investigation to track down the culprits. Police stated, "They are trying to ascertain how the incident took place and identify those involved."
