Agartala: The National Health Mission and the Tripura Health Department gave 180 smartphones to ASHA workers and facilitators at the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. The handover happened Monday at the Teliamura Panchayat Samiti hall.
Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy gave out the devices. Other attendees included Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Deepa Deb, Vice Chairman Nirmal Sutradhar, medical officer Dr. Bipasha Debbarma, SDPM Abhijit Sarkar, and BDO Biplab Acharjee. They want faster data reporting.
Saha Roy said the phones help workers connect rural populations to health services. She claimed the tech update improves how the department shares information about government schemes. The devices are tools for change.
"In today’s age, technology is indispensable for effective service delivery. This initiative will make grassroots healthcare stronger and more responsive," she said.
ASHA workers often treat pregnant women, children, the elderly, and marginalized people. Officials stated that these workers are the primary point of contact for these groups. Digital tools make their reporting more transparent and accessible. Staffers left the event expecting better results in the field.
