Guwahati: Hanif Ahmed Laskar, a 13-year-old boy, suffered serious burns Saturday afternoon in Rajghat. He hit an 11,000-volt power line while playing football in the Bhagabazar area of Assam’s Cachar district. The high-voltage jolt threw the boy to the ground. He landed on an iron rod, causing severe abdominal injuries.

Witnesses rushed Hanif to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for emergency care. He is the son of Azmir Hussain Laskar, the local BJP booth committee president. Neighbors are furious. They claim the transmission wire hung at a dangerously low height and officials ignored prior warnings.

The community wants answers. They demand an immediate inspection of the local grid to fix the hazardous infrastructure. Locals voiced their anger, questioning "whether adequate safety measures were in place to prevent accidental contact with the high-voltage line." Authorities now face mounting pressure to raise the lines to a safe height.
