Grandfather and Toddler Killed in Assam Highway Collision

Guwahati: An autorickshaw and a school van smashed into each other on the Silchar-Aizawl National Highway in Assam. The crash occurred at Dhala Pakoi Bil in Cachar district on August 17. Two people died instantly. Babul Uddin and his three-year-old granddaughter, Suhana Akhtar, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pair lived on Panchayat Road in Silchar. They were riding in the autorickshaw toward Dhala with two other family members when the school van struck them head-on. The impact was violent. Suhana's mother and her maternal uncle survived the collision but sustained serious injuries.

First responders arrived quickly. Police recovered the bodies for medical procedures while emergency crews rushed the survivors to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Doctors report that both victims remain in critical condition. Locals and family members are mourning the loss of the two victims. The community is devastated.
