Guwahati: Prahlad Chandra Das died near Hailakandi. The 65-year-old retired Karimganj court employee was found dead in the Saidband area. He lived in Ward No. 1 of Hailakandi town. Locals discovered the body beside the tracks and called the police.
Das was returning from Guwahati after finishing personal errands. Witnesses suspect he fell from a moving train, but officials have yet to confirm the exact cause of the incident. Hailakandi Police and the Railway Protection Force arrived at the site to recover the remains.
Investigators found a mobile phone, voter identity card, and PAN card near the scene. Officers sent the body to Hailakandi Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Authorities are now working to piece together the final moments of his life. Local sources confirmed that "the exact circumstances of his death yet to be ascertained." The community remains in mourning following the tragedy.
