Guwahati: Harich Ali, 42, died in Tamil Nadu. Police found the Channighat Gaon Panchayat resident hanging at 11 pm on October 3. Ali left his home in the Dholai Assembly constituency of Cachar district to find work. Now he is gone.

Authorities recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem exam. The exact cause of death remains a mystery. His kin want to know if it was suicide or something darker. They filed a formal FIR at the Lailapur Outpost to kickstart a proper investigation.

The family waits for results. They hope the probe provides some clarity on his final hours. For now, they are stuck in limbo. "The family is awaiting the post-mortem report and the findings of the police investigation to determine the exact cause of death."

Relaying the body home is the next hurdle. The family asked officials for government assistance to move Ali from Tamil Nadu to his native village in Cachar for final rites. The investigation continues.
