Agartala: India has launched its first digital census ahead of the 2027 schedule. The self-enumeration phase is now live nationwide. Citizens can register their household details online, moving away from traditional paper methods.

Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee led the way in Tripura this Saturday. He completed his family's registration, signaling the importance of public participation. The census aims to sharpen data accuracy for state and national development. Officials expect this move to slash paperwork and boost transparency.

Bhattacharjee pushed residents to start the process immediately. During the event, he said, "This is not only about saving your valuable time but also about joining hands in building a historic digital society."

The shift to a digital format improves how the government compiles demographic statistics. Better data drives smarter policy-making. Citizens now take direct control over their own records.
