Agartala: Tripura is ready for India's first fully digital population census. Officials confirmed the self-enumeration phase starts July 17. Director of Census Operations Ratan Biswas announced the state is working with the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner to execute the plan. Residents have until July 31 to submit household data at se.census.gov.in using OTP mobile authentication.
The system supports 16 regional languages. Users receive a unique Self-Enumeration ID after finishing their forms to speed up field verification. Field work shifts into the House Listing Operations between August 1 and August 30. Trained enumerators will visit every household across the eight districts of Tripura during this month. Digital tools replace paper forms entirely. "The state government, in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, is ready to roll out the digital census exercise and appealed to the media to create public awareness about the process," Biswas said.
Questionnaires include 33 questions. Officials will gather data on housing, drinking water, electricity, sanitation, internet, and household assets. The Census Act, 1948, governs all privacy protocols. The system uses encryption and multi-factor authentication to lock down sensitive data.
