Tripura Kicks Off Census 2027 After 15-Year Hiatus

Agartala: Tripura launched the first phase of the 2027 Census this Saturday, August 1. This marks the state's return to the national count after a 15-year drought. Trained enumerators are fanning out across the state to handle the houselisting operation. It is a massive task. Over the next 30 days, these workers will visit every household to record property details and available amenities before the population count begins.

The survey requires answers to 33 specific questions spread across five distinct sections set by the Centre. Ratan Biswas, the Director of Census Operations for Tripura, confirmed the rollout is running smoothly. "The first phase of Census 2027 began across Tripura after a gap of 15 years without any problem. The enumerators, who have been well trained, are enthusiastic about performing their assigned duties," Biswas said.

Officials urged residents to provide honest answers to ensure the data is accurate. Biswas clarified that people do not need to show any supporting documents during the visit. He also promised the collected data stays confidential. It will not be shared or used for any individual purposes. This houselisting stage serves as the foundation for the entire 2027 project.
