Agartala: Agartala officials are prepping for the 2027 National Census. They held a planning session at the Agartala Municipal Corporation hall on Friday. Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar led the meeting. The Directorate of Census Operations, working for the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to boost transparency through technology.

The plan covers two primary phases. Officials will track House Listing and Housing Census data alongside Population Enumeration. Majumdar told staff, "the census is not merely a statistical operation but a foundation for policy planning and welfare delivery."

Digital tools will provide real-time monitoring to cut down on mistakes. The Mayor expects staff to take the task seriously because this data dictates resource allocation for all of Tripura. Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and AMC Commissioner Saju Wahid A attended the talks with various department heads.

The Directorate promised a multi-phase roll out. This includes public awareness campaigns, specialized training for enumerators, and strict adherence to data protocols. The state wants a final count that accurately reflects its diverse population.
