Agartala: Retired government employees packed the area near the Circuit House in Agartala on Wednesday. They held a mass sit-in to force the state government into fixing long-standing pension issues. Members of the Forum of Civil Pensioners Association, Tripura State Committee, organized the rally.

Pensioners want their grievances handled now. They have spent years fighting for basic pension disbursements and welfare benefits. Progress remains sluggish despite constant appeals to state authorities. Speakers at the event warned that patience is wearing thin across the retired workforce.

Leaders of the association demanded a proactive approach from the state to protect their rights. One speaker insisted that the government must act, noting that "the government must adopt a positive and proactive approach to safeguard the interests of pensioners, who represent a significant section of society."

The group urged its members to stay united. They plan to keep using democratic means until their rights are secured. If officials continue to ignore these demands, the association will launch larger protests. The sit-in concluded with a final plea for urgent intervention from the government.
