Guwahati: Assam state officials left Makum MLA Sanjay Kishan off the new Governing Body for the Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital. The college sits inside his Makum constituency, yet he holds no seat on the 22-member panel. Questions swirl in Tinsukia district regarding the snub. Legislators from five other constituencies made the cut while Kishan stayed on the sidelines.
The Medical Education and Research Department released the order under the Governor's authority. Notification MER.495138/601 confirms the board stems from an October 27, 2025, directive. Tinsukia MLA Pulok Gohain chairs the group. The Tinsukia District Commissioner serves as vice-chairman. Five other regional MLAs joined the ranks: Bolin Chetia of Sadiya, Rupesh Gowala of Doom Dooma, Bhaskar Sharma of Margherita, and Suren Phukan of Digboi.
The board manages the hospital through a mix of civic and medical leaders. It includes staff from the health department, the Tinsukia administration, and local municipal boards. Representatives from the Indian Medical Association, the Pollution Control Board, the APDCL, and the PWD also hold spots. The group features a Local Treasury Officer and two alumni members. The government provided no official explanation for the exclusion of Kishan. The omission has fueled local speculation, as the governing body includes "political, administrative, medical and civic representatives for the management of the hospital."
