Guwahati: Netra Bahadur Chhetri died Thursday after being moved from the Lekhapani Revive De-addiction Centre to Margherita Civil Hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The facility sits in Longtong village, inside the Tinsukia district of Assam.

Chhetri checked into the centre on August 10. Reports suggest staff tied his hands and legs the night before his health failed. Lekhapani police detained three workers linked to the facility for questioning. They are now digging into the facts of the case.

The centre belongs to Juwkhong Saiko of Margherita. Authorities are looking closely at the restraint claims. A post-mortem examination remains necessary to confirm the cause of death. Officials stated, "The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination and further investigation."
