Guwahati: Samalina Bora died in a fire at the Daimukhia Tea Estate in Doomdooma. The 27-year-old Nagaon native perished inside her bungalow at roughly 10 pm. She suffered severe burns and died on the spot. Her husband, Assistant Manager Gagandeep Singh Dhillon, was present during the incident.
The couple married about 18 months ago. Neighbors flagged the situation as suspicious due to the timing and the husband's presence. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the blaze. They sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Detectives now hold Dhillon for questioning to determine what started the fire.
Authorities have not yet established a clear cause for the disaster. Investigators remain on the scene. Police stated that the "circumstances surrounding her death" remain under investigation as they await further forensic reports.
