Shillong: A 20-year-old woman took her own life in Rilbong on Friday. Sneha Paul lived in Bishnupur with her widowed mother but was staying with an uncle at the time of her death. Family members grew concerned when she stopped responding from inside her room. They eventually broke down the door.
They found her hanging from the ceiling. A note was gripped in her hand. It laid out a bitter family rift. Paul had asked her elder sister in Bengaluru for 300 rupees. The request earned her a sharp reprimand instead of help. The note expressed deep hurt, stating that the family showed "greater love" for the sister with the job while denying Paul similar affection.
