Rilbong Food Fest Marks Durga Puja Centennial

Shillong: Rilbong will host more than 100 participants for a massive food festival this Saturday. The event kicks off at 12 noon on October 3. It marks the ongoing year-long centenary of Durga Puja in the locality. Organizers built the schedule around the theme: A Century of Community, Culture & Togetherness.

Contestants will battle in five categories: fish, chicken, pork, vegetarian dishes, and desserts. A panel of professional chefs from top Shillong eateries will judge the entries. The competition provides a clear platform for residents to showcase their distinct culinary skills.

“The idea is to bring people together through food and celebrate the community as part of the centenary celebrations,” said convener Aneesh Chaudhuri. He hopes the event links different generations of locals through history and social life.

Beyond the kitchen, the festival features live music and games for both children and adults. Organizers designed these extra activities to keep families engaged throughout the day. Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai will attend as the chief guest, while Paul Lyngdoh joins as a special guest. Magic Cook is a primary sponsor of the event.
