Rilbong Puja Committee Launches Centenary Cultural Contests

Shillong: The Rilbong Durga Puja Committee is marking its upcoming 2026 centenary with a wave of cultural competitions. The events happen September 20, 26, and 27 at the Rilbong Hindu Dharma Sabha Hall. Competitors range from Nursery students to an Open Category.

Events kick off September 20. Solo Devotional Song starts at 10:30 AM, and Rabindra Sangeet follows at 2:00 PM. Each performer gets four minutes. The committee stated, "Participants in the Nursery and Open categories may choose their own poems or rhymes," while middle groups must recite committee-provided verses.

Recitation dominates September 26. Bengali recitations start at 10:30 AM, with English sessions at 2:00 PM. Sunday, September 27, brings the dancers. Solo Rabindra Nritya opens at 10:30 AM, and Group Folk Dances of India run at 2:00 PM. Groups need four to six members and must supply music on mobile phones. Every dance act holds a four-minute limit.
