Guwahati: Raj Kumar Yadav murdered his wife, Lakshmi Devi, early Friday morning inside their Kumhari Patti home. The 50-year-old allegedly entered their bedroom at 1:30 am armed with a sharp-edged weapon. He struck Lakshmi, who died from her injuries. The violence did not stop there.

Kiran, the couple's daughter, tried to protect her mother. Her father turned the blade on her. Neighbors and police rushed the critically injured daughter to Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital. Doctors later moved the graduate to a private hospital in Dibrugarh. She remains in the ICU today. Her brother, Akash Yadav, serves in the Indian Army and is stationed in Arunachal Pradesh.

Police detained Raj Kumar Yadav immediately following the attack. They sent Lakshmi Devi's body for a post-mortem examination as the investigation continues. This violence follows another death in the area. A factory manager's wife was found dead Wednesday night at the Daimukhia Tea Estate, though police have yet to confirm the details of that case. Local residents remain on edge. Authorities are still piecing together the timeline.
