Police Arrest Three, Rescue Ten Cattle in Bongaigaon Smuggling Bust

Guwahati: Police busted a smuggling ring in Assam's Bongaigaon district. Officers from the North Bongaigaon Outpost stopped a truck at Chaprakata. The vehicle, tagged with registration number AS 01 RC 4900, carried ten head of cattle. The haul was moving from Bengtol in Chirang district toward Nangla in Barpeta district.

Authorities arrested three men at the scene. They identified the suspects as Rashidul Islam, Mintu Ali, and Liaqat Zaman. Officials moved the rescued livestock to a local gaushala to keep them safe. A police spokesperson stated: "Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain whether more people were involved in the alleged cattle smuggling network." Investigators are now digging into the broader reach of the operation.
