Guwahati: Jogighopa police cuffed a man for smuggling fake gold. They moved in near the Durga Temple at Chaltapar in Assam's Bongaigaon district. Officers nabbed Sahidul Islam, a local resident from Helapakhari.
The operation relied on help from the Bongaigaon RFT. They recovered a fake gold boat weighing 1.536 kg during the stop. It was a bust.
Authorities did not waste time. Jogighopa police handed the suspect to Abhayapuri police after the seizure. The Abhayapuri team made the arrest formal. They have launched an investigation into the smuggling network to see who else is involved in the scheme.
