Guwahati: NTPC Bongaigaon signed a deal to build an archery academy in Lengpui, Mizoram. The power company will provide Rs 13.28 crore for the project. The Memorandum of Agreement ties NTPC’s Kokrajhar unit in Assam to the Mizoram State Sports Council. Money flows from NTPC, but the sports council handles the heavy lifting. They will build, run, and maintain the facility.

The academy targets young archers in the Mamit district and beyond. Staff will refine their technique for state and national competition. It wants more students to grab bows. NTPC Bongaigaon plans to oversee the progress with regular reviews. The company claims the initiative is “meant to go beyond building infrastructure and create a lasting platform for grassroots sport and youth development.”

Facilities include modern gear and professional coaching. Athletes get structured programs and daily practice time. NTPC officials call this a prime example of using CSR funds for community assets. The project aims to turn raw local talent into winners.
