Guwahati: Assam Police seized 103 head of cattle during coordinated anti-smuggling raids across Chirang and Dhubri districts. Officers intercepted six vehicles in Chirang, pulling 51 animals from the trucks and detaining 10 suspects on the spot. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the arrests on September 28.

Dhubri police cleared another 52 cattle in follow-up operations spanning Fakirganj, Sapatgram, Salkocha, and Dhubri proper. The state remains locked in a bitter fight against illegal livestock transport. Officers are working to break the supply chain.

Sarma took to X to highlight the bust. He mocked the criminal elements involved in the illicit trade. "Looks like the cattle smugglers' GPS is still not working," Sarma wrote. Officials stated they saved the 103 animals from the clutches of the cattle mafia.
