Guwahati: Assam police recovered 11 cattle in Kokrajhar and arrested one person after two raids. The operations targeted illegal livestock smuggling rings. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the local police for the arrests. Detectives are now mapping the entire supply chain. They want to catch everyone from the ground-level handlers to the big players upstream.
Police are tightening the net. On September 6, South Salmara officers intercepted a boat and seized 51 additional cattle. They caught one suspect during that patrol. This seizure hits hard because the riverfronts often serve as blind spots for illicit transport. The Chief Minister stated, "The latest action comes amid a series of intensified operations against suspected cattle smuggling across Assam."
Officers are patrolling both the highways and the water. These back-to-back busts follow similar enforcement wins in Dhubri. The state is making it clear. The hunt for smugglers will not stop here.
