Zeliangrong United Front Welcomes Back Veteran Leader AD Thaison

Imphal: The Zeliangrong United Front is welcoming AD Thaison back into the fold. Thaison, also known as Hozam Thaimei and Adum Thaimei, previously worked as a high-ranking official within the S. Kamson group. The ZUF sees his homecoming as a major win for the movement seeking Zeliangrong political rights.

Thaison logged years of service in his former camp. He worked as Minister of Information and Publicity from 2018 to 2020. He then served as Home Secretary from 2020 to 2024. Finally, he held the title of Cabinet Speaker from 2024 until his recent departure.

Louis Gangmei, the ZUF Secretary for Information and Publicity, confirmed the group remains open to bringing back former members who want to help the cause. The ZUF stated Thaison returned because he realized the value of political dialogue. "The organisation remained open to welcoming back former members willing to contribute to the collective cause of the Zeliangrong community," the group noted.

The ZUF is currently working with representatives under the Zeliangrong Statehood Working Committee. Leaders view these discussions as the best way to handle the community’s political goals.
