Imphal: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) claims the NSCN-IM is recruiting Zeliangrong youths as volunteers. Secretary Louis Gangmei says the move aims to sow fear and division within the community. The outfit alleged the NSCN-IM is working with the Kamson group and several unnamed local organizations to stir up conflict with Kuki groups.
These actions hurt local unity. The ZUF found six to seven illegal check posts scattered along National Highway-37. Cadres and associates are shaking down civilians, transporters, and commuters for cash and goods. The group views these incidents as a calculated effort to push the expansionist interests of the NSCN-IM.
ZUF leaders promise to fight back. They vow they will flush out any anti-Zeliangrong elements operating in the region. The group warned anyone working with the NSCN-IM or the Kamson group that they will be held responsible for the consequences of their collaboration.
The ZUF maintains that it fights for peace and stability. They asked the public to ignore online rumors and stop spreading propaganda. The group claims it remains committed to protecting the property and dignity of the Zeliangrong people while calling for regional cooperation.
